The 4C Hotel Group commissioned Hyssop Project to upgrade this Westminster hotel’s breakfast room, from stripping out old features and flooring to installing new fixtures and furniture.
First we undertook a full strip-out, removing the furniture, breakfast bar, dado rails, skirting and floor tiles.
As the breakfast bar was being repositioned, water supplies were also relocated along with electrical fittings. We installed Schneider brushed chrome power sockets and appliance fuse spurs.
To economise on cost, the wall surfaces around the new power points, dado rail and skirting were made good when redecorating, avoiding the need for full re-plastering.
Removal of the flooring had highlighted the poor condition of the old surface, which was cracked and lifting from the sub-floor. This was taken up and replaced with a new self-levelling compound, providing an even surface for gloss Ivory porcelain floor tiles (600x600mm).
We also used these tiles for the 100mm skirting with a grey square bead to cap the tile off to match the cement grey grout.
The breakfast bar furniture was oak with a veneer finish and Corian worktop.
Field tiles (200x100mm), again with cement grey grout, were laid over the counter top of the breakfast bar in brick bond.
